HOT SPRINGS, ARKANSAS FISHINGGUIDE
Lake DeGray
Lake DeGray
Not far from
where we do all our fishing, Cedar Point, Arkansas's resort state
park lies on the north shore of
Lake DeGray, a 13,800-acre fishing and
water sports destination in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains.
Here you will find resort amenities combined with plenty of outdoor fun.
The park's full-service marina (open year-round) offers tackle, dock
space, fuel and a variety of boat rentals.
Swim beaches, boat launches, pavilions, trails, bicycle rentals, a
store, tennis court, basketball court and coin laundry round out
DeGray's offerings.
Interpreters at
DeGray Lake Resort State Park offer snorkeling programs
during the summer. The park is located about eight miles
north of Arkadelphia on 13,800-acre DeGray Lake, formed when
the Caddo River was dammed in 1972.
In addition to
having great outdoors fun, camping at
DeGray Lake allows you to learn what the heck a "yurt"
is. Rent-A-Yurt, pictured here, is available at DeGray Lake
Resort State Park. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers offers
campsites on the lake in addition to the state park.
Park interpreters
lead sunset cruises snorkeling trips on the lake and guided
hikes along park trails and the shoreline, a popular place
to view the lake's abundant birdlife. Outdoor workshops and
a variety of special events are hosted in the park
throughout the year. Each January, the popular "Eagles Et
Cetera" weekend celebrates the migration of American bald
eagles to DeGray Lake.
DeGray offers a
96-room lodge and convention center, camping (113 sites
including Premium D, Preferred B, Standard B and
Rent-A-Yurt), swimming, tennis, golf, hiking, bicycling and
guided horseback trail rides.
DeGray Lake
Resort State Park is located on an island and reached by
a short causeway. Visitors can avail themselves of
rental watercraft at the park marina to take advantage of
the lake’s fishing or can launch for free their own craft.
Water-skiing, sailing, jet-skiing and pleasure boating are
other popular DeGray activities.
DeGray's
lodge and convention center offers sweeping views of DeGray
Lake from its unique island setting. Amenities include a
swimming pool, hot tub and fitness room. DeGray Lodge's
Shoreline Restaurant offers a full menu plus banquet
catering services.
Located on an island
and reached by a short causeway, the park’s 96-room lodge
features a spa, swimming pool, well-equipped exercise room,
convention facilities and a full-service restaurant. Also
located on the lake are a private resort and U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers recreational areas, most of which have
campsites. State park: (501) 865-2801.
The lodge also
features a business center, meeting rooms and 350-seat
convention center that are perfect for meetings, retreats
and family reunions. Custom-fit meetings are DeGray Lake
Resort State Park Lodge's specialty. Group Rates/Package
Plans are available.
